Technical Specialist – BMS / EPMS / SCADA / ICS
We’re looking for a hands-on Technical Specialist who loves getting into the details of controls, power monitoring, complex building systems, and then making them all play nicely together.
In this role, you’ll be the go-to technical lead helping develop, implement, test, and commission BMS, EPMS, SCADA, and industrial control systems for mission-critical facilities. You’ll configure and troubleshoot communications (TCP/IP, Modbus gateways, power meters, PDUs, ATS, generators, STS, UPS, batteries, etc.), navigate EPMS/SCADA for monitoring and trending, and support safe operation of electrical gear (breakers, switchgear, panels, and more). You’ll write and execute point-to-point and functional startup scripts, manage startup and issues lists with commissioning tools, and do light electrical sketches, CX plans, and basic calculations as needed.
You should be comfortable reading vendor manuals, loading and updating PLC projects, configuring communication parameters, and doing basic PLC/SCADA programming and troubleshooting. Strong technical writing, solid communication skills, and the ability to explain complex systems in plain language are important. You’ll work closely with project teams, help plan and execute complex startups, and contribute to a strong safety culture for both coworkers and customers.
What you bring:
Experience with EPMS, BMS, industrial instrumentation and/or SCADA (installation, testing, or troubleshooting).
Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems: switchgear, transformers, breakers, UPS, power monitoring, etc.
Basic understanding of commissioning, inspection, and testing of electrical systems.
Comfortable with TCP/IP networking, Modbus, PLCs, and SCADA basics.
Solid documentation and technical writing skills; familiar with industry codes and standards is a plus.
Reliable attendance at customer sites and willingness to travel (local, regional, and sometimes national).
If you like solving tricky technical problems, enjoy seeing complex systems come to life at startup, and want a role where your expertise really matters on site, we’d love to talk. Apply with your resume and a brief note on a project you’re proud of. Pete Bolog peteb@peoplesolutions.cc EOE
