Job Description

CNC Programmer

We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to join a specialized machine tool manufacturing team in Chesapeake, VA. The ideal candidate will have strong Mastercam programming experience, the ability to read complex prints, and a solid background in CNC machining, setup, and troubleshooting.

What You’ll Do

  • Analyze drawings, blueprints, plans, materials, specifications, and design data to determine machining requirements.

  • Program mills and lathes by creating detailed machine instructions, including zero and reference points, tool selection, offsets, speeds, and feed rates.

  • Prove out part programs and make adjustments to improve accuracy and efficiency.

  • Troubleshoot machining processes and reprogram or repost as needed.

  • Maintain specifications and support continuous improvement in machining operations.

  • Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

What You Bring

  • Excellent problem-solving skills.

  • Strong technical communication skills for working with designs and drawings.

  • Proficient understanding of G-code and M-code programming.

  • Experience setting up and troubleshooting manual and CNC machines.

  • Strong math skills, including geometry and trigonometry.

  • Working knowledge of precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers.

  • Understanding of quality control processes.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

  • Knowledge of both metric and imperial measurements.

  • Proficient with PCs in a Windows environment.

  • Knowledge of fabricating and machining weldments.

Required Experience

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • 3+ years of CNC Programmer experience.

  • Experience with 2D/3D CAD/CAM software.

  • Experience with Siemens and Fanuc controls.

  • Mastercam experience strongly preferred.
