Job Description

Structural BIM Designer

We’re partnering with a leading concrete manufacturer in the Richmond, VA area to hire a Structural BIM Designer for their project detailing team. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys building 3D models, coordinating drawings, and supporting projects from contract documents through production.

What you’ll do
In this role, you will read contract drawings and specifications, identify items that need clarification, and support project kickoff and coordination meetings. You’ll prepare and issue BIM-based deliverables such as cover sheets, foundation plans, framing plans, elevation drawings, erection drawings, and repair work orders.

You will also manage RFIs, project documents, and material-related coordination, while working closely with project engineers, project managers, architects, contractors, and production teams to keep drawings accurate and on schedule.

What we’re looking for
The ideal candidate has 3 to 5 years of related experience and training or certification in Autodesk Revit or SolidWorks. An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in drafting, engineering technology, construction, or a related discipline is preferred.

Experience in concrete, structural detailing, BIM modeling, or fabrication/shop drawings is highly valued. Strong communication, coordination, and follow-through skills are important for success in this role.

Compensation and environment
The position is based in Richmond, VA, with reported pay in the range of $32 to $53 per hour. The employer also offers a benefits package that includes health, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, and a 401(k) with company match and profit sharing. Relocation assistance available.

Why this role
This is a strong opportunity for a detail-oriented BIM professional who wants to work in a production-driven environment and contribute to complex structural projects. It is a good fit for someone who likes coordination, technical accuracy, and seeing drawings move from concept to fabrication and erection.
