Analytical Lab Technician
Chemical lab technician in the Richmond R&D Analytical Department. The Physical Properties testing group is seeking a 6-month temp-to-hire laboratory technician. Primary test responsibilities include industry specific oxidation testing, filtrations, titrations, and viscosity testing.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Active participant in company safety culture in a laboratory environment.
- Provide support for a broad range of additional physical properties and elemental analysis tests.
- Participate in company quality systems and maintain up to date documentation in test areas.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE MINIMUMS:
- High school graduate, or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Demonstrated lab and/or chemistry training, experience, or aptitude.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related science.
- At least 2 years of experience working in an analytical chemistry laboratory.
- Customer service experience.
- Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Moderate to advanced computer literacy (Microsoft Office, Word, Excel)
- Time management and record keeping.
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
- Effective prioritization and execution of multiple tasks and changing priorities.
- Oral and written communication.
- Perform standardized laboratory procedures with minimal supervision upon completion of training.
- Collaborate with fellow analysts, researchers, and stakeholders across Afton's organizational matrix to achieve business objectives.
- Critical thinking and problem solving.
- Good laboratory practice.
