Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer or Designer with a strong background in the design of HVAC systems for commercial buildings. This is a production-focused role for a skilled engineer who enjoys hands-on design work, client interaction, and site inspections.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design HVAC systems for commercial buildings in collaboration with architects and clients.

  • Develop and review designs for hydronic systems, including chilled water, hot water, and steam.

  • Incorporate building automation systems into designs.

  • Conduct site inspections and ensure compliance with design intent.

  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with clients and project teams.

  • Utilize AutoCAD and Revit in design projects.

  • Perform cooling load calculations using Trace 700 (energy modeling experience is a plus).

Qualifications

  • Approximately 20 years of experience in HVAC system design within an MEP engineering office.

    • Consideration will be given to candidates with slightly more or less experience outside of this range.

  • Proven experience designing hydronic and building automation systems.

  • Healthcare project experience (hospitals or similar facilities) is preferred.

  • Strong history of long-term engagements with previous employers (stability is valued).

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit (required).

  • Familiarity with Trace 700 for cooling loads (required) and energy modeling (a plus).

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Willingness to work in production rather than management.

Work Environment

  • Primarily remote/flexible schedule.

  • One mandatory in-office day per week (Wednesdays).

  • Minimal overnight travel required.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Paid Time Off (PTO):

    • 2 weeks annually at start of employment.

    • 3 weeks annually after 5 years.

    • 4 weeks annually after 10 years.

  • Paid Holidays: 11 annually, including major federal holidays plus a floating holiday of your choice.

  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance fully paid by employer.

  • Short-term and long-term disability insurance at no cost to employee.

  • Simple IRA (SIRA): Company match up to 3% of salary.

This role is ideal for a seasoned mechanical engineer who wants to continue doing meaningful design work in a collaborative, architect-focused environment without heavy management responsibilities.
