Job Title: Generator Controls Engineer
Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced professional with a strong background in generator controls to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in control systems, automation, and SCADA systems , with a focus on designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced solutions for various applications. This role also requires hands-on fieldwork, leadership in project proposals, and staying updated on industry advancements.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and Engineering:
Develop design documentation for a range of project scales, including large and small systems.
Craft narrative design documents, conduct requirements analyses, and generate system functionality specifications.
Design subsystems such as CAD layouts, panels, wiring schematics, SCADA screens, hardware setups, and communication frameworks.
Conduct quality assurance and technical reviews of designs and specifications.
Lead programming and configuration activities for sophisticated automation and SCADA systems.
Program, configure, and troubleshoot PLCs, RTUs, and HMI platforms.
Testing, Troubleshooting, Deployment, and Commissioning:
Draft and supervise the execution of testing plans and procedures.
Oversee testing and commissioning efforts for deployed systems.
Provide troubleshooting expertise during service calls and resolve issues with both new and legacy systems.
Maintenance:
Perform diagnostic and repair activities for service requests related to existing systems.
Managerial and Leadership Duties:
Drive proposal development for medium to large projects, including research and cost estimation.
Monitor and integrate emerging trends to maintain sector leadership.
Assign tasks to team members, including engineers and support staff, while mentoring entry-level engineers.
Fieldwork:
Interpret electrical and control schematics.
Handle startup, configuration, and calibration of control systems.
Test and troubleshoot system components in the field.
Utilize specialized tools, including electrical and calibration equipment, during fieldwork.
Tools and Software Expertise:
Knowledge of industrial control networks and communication protocols.
Proficiency in CAD/CAE software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, EPLAN).
Familiarity with project scheduling tools and standard office software (Microsoft Word, Excel).
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with SEL Relays, IEC61850, RTAC, PLCs, and similar technologies.
Background in environments such as data centers or microgrids.
Certifications in PLC/Automation Platforms (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider) and/or SCADA platforms (e.g., Ignition, Wonderware).
Licenses like Certified Automation Professional (CAP), Certified SCADA Security Architect (CSSA), or Professional Engineer (PE) are advantageous.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or an equivalent blend of education, training, and experience, with at least 9 years in the field.
Physical and Cognitive Abilities:
Comfort working at a desk or with screens for extended periods.
Manual dexterity for operating tools and keyboards.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
