HVAC Test Technician

Location: Dallas, Texas
Schedule: Full-Time

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced HVAC Test Technician to perform final testing, troubleshooting, and quality verification of custom commercial HVAC equipment before shipment. This position plays a key role in ensuring each unit meets engineering specifications, safety standards, and customer requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform operational and performance testing on custom HVAC systems including air handling units, direct-fired, indirect-fired, mixed-air, air turnover, and evaporative cooling equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, controls, airflow, gas-fired, and hydronic system issues.
• Verify proper operation of motors, VFDs, burners, gas trains, relays, sensors, actuators, safety devices, and control components.
• Balance fans and blower assemblies while performing vibration and airflow checks.
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, piping drawings, and engineering documentation.
• Utilize electrical meters and diagnostic equipment to validate system performance.
• Complete testing documentation, inspection reports, and quality records accurately.
• Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to identify defects, resolve production issues, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain a safe work environment by following OSHA, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and company safety procedures.
• Assist with training and mentoring junior technicians as needed.

Qualifications

• 3-7 years of experience in commercial or industrial HVAC, manufacturing, equipment testing, controls, maintenance, or electrical troubleshooting.
• Strong troubleshooting skills involving electrical, mechanical, HVAC controls, airflow, gas-fired, and hydronic systems.
• Experience working with motors, VFDs, sensors, actuators, relays, and electrical control circuits.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings.
• Proficient using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work safely in a manufacturing environment.

Preferred Experience

• Industrial electrical or HVAC technical certification.
• HVAC controls experience.
• Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) training.
• Lean Manufacturing or 5S experience.
• Experience testing custom air handling units (AHUs), direct-fired or indirect-fired HVAC systems, evaporative cooling equipment, or engineer-to-order (ETO) products.
