Superintendent / Construction Manager – Airport Project (50+ hrs/week)

We’re seeking an experienced Superintendent / Construction Manager for a high-profile airport construction project. This is a great opportunity with steady, full-time hours (50+ per week) and the chance to lead complex airfield and terminal-related work from the field.

About the Role

You’ll partner closely with the Project Manager to drive safe, on-schedule, and on-budget execution of construction activities at an active airport environment. This role is ideal for someone with strong field leadership, airfield experience, and a track record of managing subcontractors and production teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Foster a collaborative project environment with staff, client, designers, subcontractors, suppliers, and other key stakeholders.

• Work with the PM/PS to ensure adequate personnel, resources, and equipment are in place for project execution.

• Enforce compliance with all safety legislation and company procedures; make Health, Safety, and Welfare a core value for all site staff.

• Identify project risks and work with the PM to manage and mitigate them effectively.

• Understand specifications and contract requirements; supervise work to ensure it meets required standards.

• Implement cost and quality control measures in line with company procedures; ensure direct reports understand production targets and cost awareness.

• Support the commercial strategy, manage changes, and help recover value while minimizing costs.

• Assist the PM and PS with key field and execution decisions.

• Delegate appropriately and promote independence, decision-making, and accountability within the project team.

• Communicate key issues promptly to the PM and Construction Manager/PS.

• Prepare clear, professional written communications and reports for the PM and client per company and project requirements.

• Maintain daily records of work, resources, outputs, and any obstructions; notify the PM of issues and maintain contemporary records for variations/change orders.

• Review material and equipment supply needs with the PS to ensure timely deliveries that support the project schedule.

• Supervise the site engineering team to ensure accurate set-out, smooth execution, and proper daily/as-built records.

• Supervise and coordinate subcontractors to ensure compliance with project requirements, schedule, and quality standards.

• Attend daily and weekly internal briefings and progress meetings.

Qualifications / Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.

• 3–5 years of construction experience, with at least 1 year in a Senior Engineer / Assistant Project Superintendent role (or equivalent) showing clear progression into supervisory and planning responsibilities.

• Airfield construction and rehabilitation experience strongly preferred.

• OSHA 30 certification required; focus on safe execution of construction activities.

• US Army Corps of Engineers Construction Quality Management (CQM) for Contractors certificate is a plus.

• Solid knowledge of construction best practices, standards, and specifications.

• Experience managing direct reports and production staff.

• Strong team player able to contribute across a business unit or area.

• Good management skills with the ability to motivate self and colleagues to achieve high standards of compliance and performance.

• Strong operational planning and time management skills.

• Ability to ensure company and contract standards and specifications are met.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
