HMI Engineer

Full-Time | Engineering & Automation

We are seeking an HMI Engineer to develop, test, and support industrial automation software for a variety of control system projects. This role is ideal for an engineer with experience in HMI/PLC programming who enjoys collaborating with project teams, solving technical challenges, and supporting projects from design through commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test HMI, PLC, and SCADA software for industrial automation systems.
• Configure control systems, including motion control, I/O mapping, sensors, and automation hardware.
• Develop and modify HMI, SCADA, and data reporting applications to meet project requirements.
• Perform system testing, simulation, and troubleshooting to ensure reliable performance.
• Support factory acceptance testing (FAT), commissioning, and customer startup activities.
• Collaborate with internal teams and customers to implement software solutions and resolve technical issues.
• Develop and maintain engineering standards, software documentation, and best practices.
• Support integration with third-party systems and embedded automation applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience developing software for industrial HMI and automation systems.
• Strong understanding of PLCs, distributed I/O, and industrial control systems.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Willingness to travel internationally up to 20%.
• Ability to work at heights up to 175 feet when required.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in industrial automation, drives, or motor control applications.
• Experience with GE and/or Siemens PLC and HMI platforms.
• Experience with machine-level programming and industrial automation systems.
• Knowledge of laser or vision-based sensor integration.
• Experience with embedded or real-time software development.
• Programming experience with C#, Python, Visual Studio, VC++, Visual Basic, SQL Server, or .NET.
• Passion for continuous improvement and applying new technologies to automation solutions.
